TMS Patient Experience: Nichol

The staff at Sonder are very patient and willing to share everything they learn. They are on this journey with you.

Nichol, TMS patient

We’re proud of the technology, team, and process we offer our patients seeking Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatment.

(New to TMS? Learn more about it here.)

And as we witness each patient experience the benefits for themselves, we’re right there celebrating alongside them!

This week, we’re talking with Nichol about their experience with TMS:

Thanks for taking the time to chat with us, Nichol! Can you share a bit about what life felt like prior to beginning TMS treatment?

My life prior to TMS was getting very difficult. I was losing a day a week (sometimes more) to depression and migraines that came with the stress. It wasn’t until really talking with the people at Sonder that I realized this was not acceptable.

What had you tried (before TMS) to address these challenges?

I’ve been on meds for a long time so have tried many of them. I’ve also tried chiropractic care for the migraines, as well as yoga and meditation.

Any hesitations about exploring TMS for yourself? What made you decide to give it a try?

I learned about TMS from my primary therapist who thought I might be a good candidate.

I was initially concerned about the cost and the pain that might be involved. Also, I wondered about long-term side effects.

Meeting with the staff at Sonder really helped me get over the fears. They took care of all the insurance work, but they also provided me with a lot of information on the exact procedure and what was happening in my brain that would make this type of treatment successful.

What was the experience like for you?

The treatment process was very easy. The staff at Sonder was amazing to work with. They kept me calm before, during, and after the procedure.

What were some of the first changes you noticed after beginning treatment?

Sleeping less. I noticed I wasn’t oversleeping.

How does life feel different now, after TMS treatment?

Getting up seems to be easier for me. I am only a week out so I haven’t seen drastic changes yet. But I am very optimistic!

Any advice or encouragement you’d like to share with someone considering TMS?

Do a consultation. It is not as scary as you think it might be. The staff at Sonder are very patient with you and willing to share everything they learn. They are on this journey with you.

Thank you, Nichol! We’re honored to have worked with you.
