The changes started to gradually happen. One day I realized I was smiling more, felt positive, and wasn’t turning to food to drown my sorrows. After treatment, I felt like a new and much better me.
Christi, TMS patient
We’re proud of the technology, team, and process we offer our patients seeking Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatment.
(New to TMS? Learn more about it here.)
And as we witness each patient experience the benefits for themselves, we’re right there celebrating alongside them!
This week, we’re talking with Christi about her experience with TMS:
Thanks for taking the time to chat with us, Christi! Can you share a bit about what life felt like prior to beginning TMS treatment?
I always felt like there was a blanket over me, preventing me from truly enjoying life. And an inner voice telling me that everything bad happening was my fault. I simply was not happy and felt isolated.
It was always an effort to want to interact with other people. I felt very alone and vulnerable.
What had you tried (before TMS) to address these challenges?
Prior to starting the TMS treatment, I experienced various levels of depression for over 30 years.
I had been to numerous psychologists (for therapy) and psychiatrists (for medications). However, none were really effective in lifting my continual depression.
Any hesitations about exploring TMS for yourself? What made you decide to give it a try?
I first heard about TMS from my psychiatrist. He told me that I would be a good candidate for the treatment.
I researched the treatment and felt that I had nothing to lose by trying it. I was desperate to get better.
I moved to the Minneapolis area and found Dr. Leuhr and Sonder. I was surprised to learn that this treatment has been around for a while and is paid for by insurance (without having to fight for it).
I had no hesitations. I could only get better and felt I needed something outside of the box of normal medications. It was an easy decision to try the treatment as my mood could not get worse, only better.
What was the experience like for you?
The treatment was painless and easy. Everyone at Sonder was very nice and great to work with. I felt like I was in good hands with Dr. Luehr’s oversight.
What were some of the first changes you noticed after beginning treatment?
The changes started to gradually happen. One day I realized that I was smiling more, felt positive and was not turning to food to drown my sorrows. After treatment I felt like a new and much better me.
How does life feel different now, after TMS treatment?
It has been over a year since I had the treatment. With the help of conventional medications and Dr. Leuhr, I still feel like a happy and engaged member of society. I still have periods of feeling down, but they never last long.
Any advice or encouragement you’d like to share with someone considering TMS?
I would definitely recommend to go for it and try this treatment; it was life changing for me. Dr. Luehr and Sonder are the best and you are in good hands with them.
Thanks, Christi! We’re honored to have worked with you.
