TMS Patient Experience: Debra

TMS Patient Experience: Debra

I started noticing I had the energy to get myself ready and off to the appointment each day. I became aware that I felt happy about the day itself. I found myself with new ideas to paint and create.

Debra, TMS patient

We’re proud of the technology, team, and process we offer our patients seeking Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatment.

(New to TMS? Learn more about it here.)

And as we witness each patient experience the benefits for themselves, we’re right there celebrating alongside them!

This week, we’re talking with Debra about her experience with TMS.

Thanks for taking the time to chat with us, Debra! Can you share a bit about what life felt like prior to beginning TMS treatment?

I felt like I carried a weight of sadness wherever I went and whatever I did. It wasn’t that I didn’t smile or laugh, but no happiness seemed to make it’s way to my heart.

I had accepted that I would feel this way for the rest of my life.

What had you tried (before TMS) to address these challenges?

I had tried many medications. I had tried exercise and diet changes. I had been in therapy for years.

Any hesitations about exploring TMS for yourself? What made you decide to give it a try?

After Dr. Camsari reviewed my medical history and spoke with me, he recommended Neurostar TMS treatment. I had not heard of it prior to that.

I was concerned about the cost, but most of all, I was concerned that it might not help me. That would mean that there’s truly no hope for me.

But, Erin worked and worked some more with my insurance company to secure payment for my treatment. I finally realized that continuing to feel the way I did– without joy and without hope of feeling better– was not the way I wanted to live.

What was the experience like for you?

I quickly got used to the discomfort of the treatment itself. Though having a treatment every weekday was exhausting, I appreciated having a routine that got me out of my house.

And I enjoyed seeing the technicians each day.

What were some of the first changes you noticed after beginning treatment?

I noticed I had the energy to get myself ready and off to the appointment each day.

I became aware that I felt happy about the day itself. I found myself with new ideas to paint and create.

How does life feel different now, after TMS treatment?

Life feels very different than before. I can laugh and feel the joy of it again. I look forward to all sorts of things.

I can say that I feel content– not resigned– and that I’m happy.

Any advice or encouragement you’d like to share with someone considering TMS?

There are no guarantees. But, isn’t even the possibility of being able to feel better about yourself, the people around you, and living life itself worth giving TMS a try?

Thanks, Debra! We’re honored to have worked with you.
